Meet  the woman behind " The Bottom  Line"

 

Jedi Ramalapa has been a reporter for more than a decade and was a part of SABC News for more than 8 years. She covered the environmental, science, culture and human rights beats in additon to  her role as a  general hard  news reporter for the public broadcaster. Ramalapa was also a news reader for SAfm, the SABC’s flagship English News and current affairs radio station. She was also a producer and voice over artist for the SABC flagship investigative programme Special Assignment. During her employment at the public broadcaster Ramalapa was sent on a number of international assignments to cover stories in China, Canada, Kenya, Uganda, Spain, Mozambique and the Middle East. In 2008 she was awarded the Reham Al Farrah Fellowship to spend three months in New York learning about the work of the United Nations.  In 2009 she joined Interpress News Service Africa as the a multimedia editor, commissioning and assigning radio news podcasts from more than 14 freelance journalists across the African Continent. In 2011 she launched a career as an independent freelance journalist working from Dakar, Senegal where she also worked as an anchor and producer of the West African Democracy Radio (WADR) English Service.  In 2014 she joined ANN7 as a news reporter producing daily live news and features. She is also contributing writer for the Mail and Guardian newspapers in South Africa.  These are her original  words  except where expressely noted otherwise.
